Dj Sazonov

A good DJ is the key to a great atmosphere at any competition

Hello, my name is Dmitry. I am a WDSF DJ (License A). I started to work as a sound engineer on ballroom competitions since 2013.

As a dancer with 30 years of experience, I understand how crucial good music is — it sets the atmosphere and motivates dancers to show their best performance.

Good music matters not only for the competitors but also for the audience and adjudicators: it keeps the energy of the hall, enhances the emotions of every round, and helps everyone to fully enjoy the event.

WDSF Music

WDSF rules regarding dance music are fairly straightforward. The music must follow the character of each dance and stay within the required tempo. WDSF DJs also have a list of national anthems for each country to be used during ceremonies.

If you think that a good DJ isn’t necessary — try a bad one

A good DJ can adjust the musical style in real time during the competition, based on dancers’ age and skill level, the mood of the audience, and the atmosphere in the hall. It can be an orchestra for amateur couples, modern or disco covers for general rounds, or strict-tempo tracks for less experienced dancers.
